Tentative Agreement

The Tentative Agreement of February 23, 2009 was ratified by the Association with a vote of 48-0. The board has a special board meeting Thursday, February 26 at 5 to ratify the agreement.

Board Meeting News

Board Meeting News:

According to the Board and Bob Lowden, Mike Stuart will continue as lead negotiator for the district even though he has taken a position as interim superintendent for the Durham School District
The CUSD is not using Lou Lozano for negotiating so there will be no more billings for the private jet
However, the district is still using the firm Lozano Smith as counsel and paid over $9,000.00 in fees for the last 30 days
Mr. Lowden gave the Association an extension to file a grievance with the board regarding the units. He feels the situation can be rectified at the Feb. mediation
Mr. Seale and Mr. McCarley are still planning to meet with Alan Swanson regarding the severance package that was awarded Mr. Swanson

Negotiations Update

At the special board meeting Tuesday, September 1, the board hired Mike Stuart to be the lead negotiator for the District. Stuart was also hired to be a “leadership coach” to the principals. The Association asked that negotiations for 07-08 be fast tracked since the year is over but were told that is not possible since Mr. Stuart will be in Spain. The District is also determined to continue in mediation for the 07-08 contract.

Informal Settlement Conference Update

The informal settlement conference was held on complaint #4 (denial of movement to column D) today in Sacramento. Charlie Menehor and Laura Merrick were there representing the district. There was some positive dialogue and forward movement regarding this issue. We will give you more details as they become available.

Special Board Meeting July 9

There is a special board meeting tomorrow night, Wednesday, July 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the West Cottonwood Library. On the agenda is an interim superintendent.

Settlement Conference & Superior Court Case

Tomorrow is the informal settlement conference for Complaint #4 (failure to move a teacher twho has the units to column D). Check back for details on this complaint.

The Superior Court case (units) has been postponed. New date will be posted as soon as it is available.
